Have you seen our super  Cornerstones Calendar for 2018  yet?   It’s a fun Calendar, featuring photos of some of the Cornerstones groups and people connected with Cornerstones and helps to dispel the myth that people who attend Church are straight-laced and killjoys!  It’s A4 size, printed on good quality paper and comes with an envelope so that you can send it to family and friends.  It’s worth much more than the £2.95 we are asking for it.  The price has been kept low so that we can all use it as an Outreach project, selling it to as many people as we can.   All the money raised from sales of the Calendar will be clear profit and will go to Church funds.  This has been made possible because Michael Timmins whose firm, One Sign and Digital, designed and printed the calendar, has done it totally free of charge.  Michael and Susan have supported our Church in many ways since the beginning of Cornerstones.  Michael says he does this because he admires what our Church is doing for the local community.  If Michael can do so much for Cornerstones then surely we can all be inspired to help as much as we possibly can.  Don’t just buy one copy for yourself but try to sell lots of copies of the Calendar to your family and friends.  Buy copies to send to people on your Christmas card list.  Let’s make this a bumper fund-raising effort for our Church.  Copies of the Calendar can be obtained from Dorothy Wroe (tel: 4104322),   Jean and Bob Dobson (tel: 4178086)  or from the Office.

On Saturday, 7th October, Marjorie Vasey is hosting a Coffee Morning  for the County Durham Activity Day Centre.   Marjorie would be delighted to have lots of people pop in and support her as she raises funds for this worthwhile cause.  On  Monday, 9th October from 9.30am – 4.00pm there’s another  Food Safety Course but this one is only for the unemployed.  On Saturday, 14th October, from 9.30am – 4.30pm, we’re again hosting the annual Conference and Exhibition of the Western Front Association.  For tickets, costing £25, which include the cost of tea, coffee and a buffet lunch, contact 07594 964930 or e-mail wfadurham.events@live.co.uk .  On Saturday, 21st October at 1.30pm there’s a  Film and Afternoon Tea.  Tickets, costing £7, are available from the Fundraising Team and the Office.   The film is, ‘Going in Style’ starring Michael Caine.  Call at the Office for more information on any of these events.

Are you a fan of the TV  programme, ‘Who do you think you are?’  The current   Family History Course was booked up very quickly as this is such a popular subject.  If you’d like to discover who your ancestors are and what they did, find out where you came from and whether you have any famous ancestors, then register now with the office for the next course which it is hoped will start in the New Year.  Although no details are available yet, demand is sure to be high.
